who we are.

The Power of One is jointly supported by the Youth Violence Prevention Center-Denver (YVPC-D) and Denver Metro Community Impact (DMCI). The purpose of the YVPC-D is to reduce violence among 10- to 24-year-olds in Denver’s Far Northeast (Montbello and Green Valley Ranch) and Park Hill communities. YVPC-D.

The Power of One was created by the Steps to Success Montbello and Park Hill Strong community coalitions, with support from YVPC-D and DMCI. The coalitions are composed of community members that use the Communities That Care (CTC) framework to identify and implement appropriate individual-, peer-, and family-level strategies to impact youth violence. These are strategies that target risk and protective factors in the civic, social, and physical contexts of communities and have a broad reach to affect widely held values and normative behavior.

Denver Metro Community Impact (DMCI) is a strategic partner, backbone, and fiscal sponsor for Park Hill Strong, whose mission is to advance equity and generational success by elevating the voices of the systemically oppressed, through the facilitation of organizational collective action, led and constructed by the community.
